In my thesis, which belongs to the field of moral philosophy, and whose working title is Understanding and Rejecting Moderate Prioritarianism, I discuss certain ethical questions regarding the maximization of (expected) utility and the distribution of (expected) utility. First, I try to deepen the understanding of moderate prioritarianism by identifying various forms of moderate prioritarianism, discussing what they are about, and illuminating their complications. Secondly, I look for the most plausible forms of moderate prioritarianism. Thirdly, I argue that even the most plausible forms of moderate prioritarianism are less plausible than utilitarianism.
